This observatory holds a 1.6 meter telescope that is exclusively dedicated to research. However, two nights a year, during the Festival d'astronomie Populaire du Mont-Mégantic, the observatory's large telescope is opened to the general public, and its electronic instruments are replaced by eyepieces for visual observation. This must have been one of those nights when we happened to fly over.
